brrly babbles about having a life

hello guys and welcome back to another episode of brrly babbles!!!! today i shall be talking about having a life, having stuff to do, and having an impacted schedule (all of those things are the same thing to me). i decided to talk about this because personally i think i have a life (not my choice) and i didn't have one before - even before quarantine - and its a very eye opening experience. very.

many people would consider having a life as having an active social life, going outside, and having hobbies. according to that definition, i would have a life!!! however, i argue that i only have a life because i forced myself to do a sport and do tons of extracurriculars. otherwise, i would be practically melting into my bed by this point.

there are a ton of downsides to having a life though like i barely have time to really focus on my extracurriculars like playing guitar, self-studying whatever i want, or like I DONT KNOW highschool is just very different from middle school OBVIOUSLY but like guys! what do you mean i have to be productive EVERYDAY??? what do you mean i have to do homework EVERYDAY?? WHAT DO YOU MEAN I HAVE TO WORRY ABOUT MY GRADES AND THE IMPACT IM MAKING ON MY COMMUNITY??? WHAT DO YOU MEAN THERES PEOPLE WHO ARE ALREADY STARTING NON PROFITS AND BUSINESSES WHILE IM STILL DECIDING ON MY FUTURE??????? GUYYSSSSS!!!!

in middle school i would do whatever i wanted after school and it didnt matter if i didnt immediately start on my homework or not because I BARELY HAD ANY. i didnt have to worry if i had a zero in a class or not. i didnt have to worry about whether or not i was late (i actually kinda did if i was late a certain amount of times id get detention). and i didnt have to worry about interacting with the REAL WORLD!! like do you guys get a little knot in your stomach when someone emails you about something?? like i want to be professional and a pleasure to work with but im not experienced in that yet! how are people already getting internships????? maybe i should get a job so i know what its like to interact with the real world and im not saying i dont already know how to, i just need to step out of my comfort zone and be more brave and social!! one day i wont be scared to reply to people's emails because i will be a professional girl boss! right guys!

anyways i kind of moved on from the topic of having a life so lets get back on track haha get it guys im in track. i actually have to use my online planner now like in middle school i had such little assignments and things to do that i just went off of my memory on what i needed to do for the day. now i have to actually use a planner. 

i also participate in a lot of clubs and if youre like an overachiever my life probably doesn't seem that difficult and busy right now but its so much different from what i used to be like! i used to sit around in my bed and think about what i SHOULD do instead of actually DOING IT like that wasted so much of my time guys!!! i could've finished cs50 by now and self-learnt 5 different languages!! also i was thinking of learning a bunch of languages for fun but if i learn all of them at the same time itll be mumbo jumbo and i wont be able to remember anything!! currently im learning vietnamese and spanish because i took spanish 1 in middle school so i dont have to take a language during senior year and im taking vietnamese so i can connect with my culture and family. ive always been able to speak a bit of vietnamese and i understand a majority of what my mom says but its very limited stuff and mostly just commands that she says to me in vietnamese but hey! at least i can speak it!

anyways im currently in 4 clubs (5 if you count the one in which i dont go to the meetings because it overlaps with my other clubs that i prioritize) and its really fun!!! also ive been volunteering a lot guys this is so awesome sauce!! okay wait let me list out all my extracurriculars so i can really get a feel of what im dealing with

• track
• i used to do taekwondo but i quit because it took away time from what i wanted to focus on BUT i might start another martial art because i like the feeling of it
• guitar (electric and acoustic)
• self study counts right guys!! i kind of just research astronomy and physics and chemistry and math topics that im interested in. im not really a professional because...im not that smart...and i also dont really know how to teach myself but its interesting to read about different science topics ALSO i have like a mound of science magazines on my bookshelf and the pages are so pretty
• programming !! technically this is an extracurricular to me because i willingly code outside of school for fun because I LOVE COMPUTER SCIENCE!!!
• learning languages aka vietnamese because its outside of school
• volunteering i guess. thats extracurricular stuff right. i volunteer for clubs and stuff!! 

thats all the important stuff but i also have little hobbies like collecting cards and funko pops and sticky notes and notebooks i also play video games (not really because im so busy guys!!! not really but you know i always have something to do) and i also participate in hackathons and competitions and YOU KNOW!!

i also create math videos and computer science videos for my own enjoyment but since the videos are public people have been viewing them and its a bit embarrassing because i didnt think anyone would like FIND THEM and actually WATCH THEM (theyre around 30mins-1hour long) and COMMENT. but hey if they find my videos helpful then cool!!! i kind of just like the idea of an organized platform where i can find videos of myself coding and doing math so i can motivate myself to do more coding and math I DONT KNOW it just motivates me 

thats the same reason why i have this blog. like i dont really expect anyone to read these blog posts and if they do and find it interesting AWESOMEEE but i write these blog posts to get my thoughts in order and also because i like the look of it AND if i want someone to know more about me i could just show them my blog and they could find out things about me that they wouldnt have known otherwise! for example i talk a lot (you wouldnt have to look at my blog to know that) and i really like math and science and music and all the basic things. but they could also infer things about my cognitive functions and how i think! they could infer things about my personality and how i am as a person!

also i was gonna put headings into this blog post but i dont know how to organize it at this point because ive been talking a lot about many different topics and somehow they flow nicely into each other so i will not break them apart and put them into different headings! 

anyways guys here is a list of things i WANT to pursue as extracurriculars or things that have just been on my mind lately

• learning multiple languages (i really want to learn chinese and maybe russian?? theyre both really hard languages but communication is so interesting and the way languages work is so interesting and different sociocultures of foreign languages is so COOL!!!!)
• learning the drums
• learning the piano (again. i quit to do guitar but now i want to learn piano again because its so satisfying to play the piano)
• learning music theory
• collecting rubber ducks (this idea stemmed off from the fact that rubber-ducking is a real method of debugging programs and i think rubber ducks are cute)
• learning how to code in java
• learning how to code cool websites because the ones ive been making are extremely ugly and basic
• learning how to write songs except thats not really something you need to learn you just do it!! unless i want to make good ones but if i want to make good ones i have to start and then booyah and you know.
• i know i have more its just not stuff thats like a whole THING by itself you know like for example i want to learn the entirety of the periodic table and all the elements and how they interact with each other and then organize it all somehow like in a website or a small journal / handbook! i dont know that just sounds really fun. did you guys know i really like organization like could you tell

okay now its time to talk about competitions and things like that because i am so studious! im doing math and science and other stuff like that and yeah you know 

• amc 10. i want to see what its like and the types of problems that i should expect for next year when ill actually study and prep for the test!! this year ill just try it out to get a feel for it and then take it seriously next year
• ncwit aspirations in computing award!!! i dont think i'll get an award but its worth a try right guys!! and plus ill get a feel for what its like! freshman year is all about trying out new things right guys (i have no idea what im talking about)
• LLS student visionaries. i want to get out of my comfort zone while also raising money for a good cause so!! i will also gain some newfound communication skills by participating in this program so hey!! also ill get a feel of what its like to raise money and hold events for fundraising
• hackathons...my weekends have been really busy on the days that the hackathons are hosted LIKE LAST WEEK I WAS FREE kind of but there were no hackathons but OF COURSE THERES A HACKATHON THIS WEEK WHEN IM SUPER BUSY!!! so whatever i guess but ill try to participate in one if i can because i want to get used to working with strangers and building my programming skills and PLUS MAYBE ILL FIND SOME NEW FRIENDS!! i barely have any friends who code and its kinda sad because i need resources and plus coding is so interesting like the logic and thinking that goes behind coding and programming and IDK its just cool
• math competitionsssssssss!!! theres some that ive found online and some that i participate in cus of a club that im in (math olympiad) and its great guys i love math. the one thats coming up (that i found on my own theres other ones thatre coming up but theyre from the club) is integirls fall math competition 2023 and its online!!
• science competitions!!!!!!! theres one coming up and i dont think ill do very well since my events arent the ones that i want to do / are interested in but its okay! theres also other competitions but ill make another blog post for that because theres a lot and im getting off topic
• im taking a butt load of coding courses at the same time and i lowkey lost track of them but ill make a separate list for them 

coding courses that im taking because i want to map it all out. I LOVE ORGANIZATION!! did you know i made a linktree for all the math resources i found and its so fun to visit and look at and my pfp is a calculator how silly is that guys.

• cs50 2023!!! im currently on week 7 and it took me a total of 4 months to get past week 5. LIKE i didnt take 4 months to think about the problem and code the program, i took 4 months to push myself towards continuing the course because i was unmotivated and was lowkey reconsidering computer science because I DID NOT UNDERSTAND ANYTHING. but i got past it in a day after motivating myself and now im okay!!! it took me 2 days to do week 6 because i was busy and also because i have school and don't really code on weekdays since it takes quite a bit of time but after i finish this blog post ill watch the lecture for week 7 and then start coding on saturday EXCEPTTTT im volunteering the entire day on saturday for a nonprofit and clubs at school soooo ill start on sunday BUTTTTT i have viet class (2hrs & 30mins) and after viet class im going to another event at school until 6 sooooooo...... MAYBE ill start tomorrow WAIT NEVERMIND I HAVE ANOTHER EVENT GUYS. i am so social and out there right guys i cant believe my weekends are busy this has never happened before usually i just sit at home and do whatever but NOW I ACTUALLY HAVE STUFF TO DO this is crazy okay im getting off topic sorry guys
• scrimba for websites and stuff (html, css, javascript)
• the odin project for websites again 
• okay maybe im not taking that many coding courses but theres a lot i WANT to take! 

okay guys i have nothing else to talk about that relates to this topic because this blog post is slowly shifting into a coding blog post instead of a life blog post and i like organization so i will make a separate blog post to talk about coding NOT TODAY THOUGH i dont feel like talking anymore i want to continue cs50 and be productive because GUESS WHO FINISHED ALL THEIR HOMEWORK EARLY TODAY!!! also is the thumbnail fire or WHAT.
